  • You may not enter patient information anywhere on this site.
  • Your organization is responsible for following the laws and policies that apply to it.
  • We provide the tools as is, with no warranty and no liability for damages.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using the Empathy in Medicine Initiative website and tools, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

Important: The tools, scripts, and educational materials provided by the Empathy in Medicine Initiative are intended to support healthcare communication. They are NOT medical advice.

  • They are not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition
  • Healthcare providers should use professional judgment when applying these tools
  • Patients should consult with their healthcare providers for medical decisions

Use of Tools: What You May Do

Our tools are provided free of charge for educational and clinical support purposes. You may:

  • Download and print tools for use within your organization
  • Adapt tools for local use with attribution
  • Share tools with colleagues for non-commercial purposes

Prohibited Uses: What You May Not Do

You agree NOT to:

  • Upload or enter patient-identifying information on this website
  • Submit Protected Health Information (PHI) in any form
  • Resell or commercialize our tools without permission
  • Use our materials in ways that misrepresent their purpose
  • Attempt to breach the security of our systems

Compliance With Laws

Organizations using these tools are responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This includes HIPAA, local privacy laws, and institutional policies.

We do not assume responsibility for how tools are implemented at the local level.

Disclaimer of Warranties

These tools are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that our tools will achieve specific outcomes. We do not guarantee that they are suitable for any particular purpose.

Limitation of Liability
