What the role is
The EIMI Ambassador Program is for students who want to advance empathy, communication, and patient-centered care in their schools and communities. It is built to be manageable, sustainable, and focused on real impact.
This is a contribution-based leadership role. Each month you complete a small number of concrete, high-impact actions and report them. Together they help EIMI reach more people through outreach, education, advocacy, and partnerships.
What we expect from ambassadors
- Complete your monthly assignments on time.
- Submit all completed work through the monthly report form.
- Represent EIMI professionally and respectfully.
- Contribute to outreach, education, storytelling, and advocacy.
- Stay active and responsive while you are an ambassador.
What to do every month
One core impact assignment
Complete one meaningful impact action. Focus on helping others learn about or use EIMI’s free training modules, certifications, and patient-experience resources, or on building outreach with local clinics and community organizations.
Examples:
- Reach out to a local clinic, healthcare office, counseling office, or community health organization about sharing EIMI materials.
- Contact a school club, nonprofit, teacher, or student organization about promoting the free training modules or certifications.
- Encourage students, volunteers, or community members to complete an EIMI training module.
- Share EIMI’s free patient-experience resources with a school, clinic, or community group.
- Give a presentation, lead a discussion, or speak at a club, class, or event about empathy in healthcare, and introduce EIMI resources.
- Write an article, reflection, interview feature, or educational resource about empathy in medicine.
- Create and share an original educational post, campaign piece, or awareness resource that points people to EIMI.
- Help organize a meaningful event, panel, or awareness initiative connected to empathy in healthcare.
This assignment should be substantial and clearly connected to EIMI’s mission.
One support or growth action
Complete one smaller action that keeps things moving. Examples:
- Send follow-up emails to outreach contacts.
- Share EIMI materials with a teacher, advisor, student leader, or community contact.
- Promote the free training modules, certifications, or patient-experience resources to peers, clubs, or local organizations.
- Help recruit new ambassadors, chapter members, or chapter leads.
- Help with an event, content project, campaign, or outreach effort.
- Make progress on a partnership, clinic connection, or other initiative.
This keeps you active each month without making the workload heavy.
One monthly report
At the end of each month, file one report through the monthly report form. It is a quick form. Include:
- What you completed
- Who you reached
- What came of it
- What you learned
- Progress on any larger project, if you have one
Be specific and focus on actual results. Add evidence where you can: links, screenshots, attendance counts, outreach records, reflections, or confirmation emails.
Optional: one larger project
You are encouraged, but not required, to take on one larger project that grows over time. Add progress updates to your monthly reports. Sustained effort earns extra recognition.
Strong options include:
- A long-term empathy initiative at your school
- A partnership with a local clinic or community organization
- A recurring story, interview, or reflection series
- Bringing the EIMI training modules or certifications to more people
- A patient-centered guide, toolkit, or resource hub
- Starting a chapter at your school or a local outreach effort
- A survey or feedback project about empathy education
This is for ambassadors who want to build something bigger. You stay in good standing without one.
How points work
Points keep expectations clear. Earn at least 8 points a month to stay in good standing. One strong core assignment plus your report is often enough.
Core impact actions
- A meaningful outreach, clinic, education, advocacy, or content action: 6 to 10 points
- A confirmed partnership, event, clinic collaboration, or other major outcome: 10 to 12 points
Support or growth actions
- One support action: 2 to 4 points
- Outreach follow-up, event support, or promotion: 2 to 4 points
- Each person you get to complete an EIMI training module: 1 point, up to 5 points a month
Optional larger project
- Clear progress this month: 3 to 5 points
- Growing it into a major initiative, partnership, or resource: 10 to 15 points
Reporting
- A complete monthly report, on time: 2 points
Staying in good standing
A month counts as incomplete if you do not file your monthly report, complete at least one core impact assignment, or reach 8 points.
Three incomplete months may mean removal from the program. They do not need to be in a row.
This keeps the program active and dependable while staying realistic for students.
Recognition and advancement
Ambassadors who consistently go beyond what is expected may receive:
- Leadership advancement opportunities
- Spotlight features
- Priority consideration for future executive roles
- Formal recognition for outstanding contribution
Empathy should be practiced, built, and shared. Ambassadors make that real by promoting the free training, certifications, and patient-experience resources, and through clinic outreach, education, storytelling, and advocacy.
